El Sol y La Luna- Our September 2022 Bold Style

This is my very first subscription sock since I’ve started working here, so I wanted it to be special.

My mom instilled a deep love and appreciation for the moon in me, ever since I was young. She’d get me out of bed at night to go outside and look at the moon. She showed me a movie called La Misma Luna, or Under the Same Moon. And once I left home, I’d get a text every so often asking “Did you see the moon tonight?”

I was inspired to add the sun by artwork often seen in traditional Mexican talaveras, where the sun and moon are combined as one. Doing so creates a tangible depiction of “Yin and Yang,” and provides a bit of an alternative to our reality, where the sun and the moon are destined to be apart. It represents the possibility that opposite forces can come together, existing peacefully as one and creating something beautiful.

There are so many things to love about summer - the long sunny days, the breezy attitude, the time spent together outside, the vacations, and the cookouts. 

September, for us, marks a transitional month. The days are still sunny and long, but things get a little bit back to a routine. School is back in session, trips have been taken, and we are starting to gear up for fall.

Each year, the Sock Club team takes advantage of the free time we have in the summer to plan for Fall and Winter, which are normally our highest volume times. We aim to take questions and innovations that we have had the space to consider in the summer and carry those lessons forward into a faster-paced time of the year.

We hope your September socks serve as a reminder to take your summer sunshine attitude into the Fall and be conscious of all the amazing things that can happen if you give yourself a bit of time to reflect and relax.
