The Casper - Black
“When the spooks have a midnight jamboree, they break it up with a fiendish glee...” - From “The Headless Horseman,” The Legend of Sleepy Hollow (1949)
I think it’s safe to say we’ve all been craving a little bit of nostalgia this past year. Of the “good ole days” when things were simple and celebrations weren’t stained with the stress of the pandemic. You see, my favorite month of the year is October, particularly because of Halloween. October means dressing up in cheap costumes, carving Jack-O-Lanterns, watching scary movies with friends and eating copious amounts of bad candy. Our last Halloween looked a little different than that, less..full of color and fun. As soon as I saw the leaves start to change this year (which isn’t much in Texas, but I am taking all I can get), I desperately longed for the way October used to make me feel as a child. How exciting it was to put up spider webs around the house and make homemade ghost decorations to put in trees. That is where I got the inspiration for this month’s sock design. I wanted to create a simple and nostalgic pattern that invoked a playful nature. I’d like to think that the little ghosts on the sock are having their very own Halloween party. As we return to some sense of normalcy, I hope we can join in their fun and have a fa-boo-lous October!
