The Chev- Our February 2022 Classic Style

Something I’ve found so fascinating within the last couple years is the resurgence of fashion styles from the seventies through the nineties. Whether that be the nineties trends sweeping through Gen Z’ers or seventies fashion making its way through mainstream stores. I knew I wanted to create a design that was essentially a modern throwback to one of those eras. I’ve always been interested in seventies fashion with their geometric patterns and rich colors. I landed on a chevron pattern for this month’s sock with beautiful teals, blues and white. I kept to the more classic colors since the chevron pattern can have a bit more personality than most of the classic patterns we use. 

Upon researching more about the history of chevron, I was fascinated to learn how important chevron has been in architecture, fashion and cultural movements. Chevron patterns can be found in Egyptian hieroglyphics, Roman architecture and even Celtic culture. It’s even a motif in a lot of nature with the shape of trees and certain geological formations that form in chevron fragments. To me, this speaks to the pattern’s timelessness and reliability. 

As you put on these socks, I hope you have a newfound appreciation for the Chevron pattern. After all, you are wearing years upon years of history!

The Story About Our February 2022 Socks:

Our February Socks of the Month were designed around the notion of love and what constitutes it. Simply put, love is complex, yet beautiful. Love goes beyond just couples and partners; you can have love for your friends, family, and furry friends. Love can also be applied to principles, beliefs, and activities. However, most importantly, love starts with you, and the ability to love yourself and all that you are. A simple concept, yet difficult for many to achieve. I hope that when you wear these socks, they act as a reminder that you are loved and that you love yourself.
